Take A Dragon to Work Day –

Work  is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste,  it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple  and take alms of those who work with joy.
…Khalil  Gibran

The third Friday in October is a day packed with fun, surprises, and, ideally, no small measure of positive Dragon PR. It is Take A Dragon to Work Day!

For millennia Dragons have been feared and fought in large part because they have not been known. As the Red Queen instructed Alice, “It isn’t etiquette to cut anyone you’ve been introduced to.”

If you walk with Dragons, even for an afternoon, it is impossible to see them as the ravening monsters they’ve been portrayed as in myth and lore. A well mannered Dragon (and don’t even think of taking your Dragon to work if they are not well-mannered!) touches everyone they meet. In short, TADtoWD is a chance to educate and inform the Dragon-ignorant and clueless. A chance to win friends and influence people around the world.

Many of us look forward to today with Cheshire Cat anticipation, eager to strut through the halls of capitalism, government, and business with our draconic cohorts by our sides. For those of us in the more creative fields – education, publishing, et al. – there is often less shock and more delight, at the sight of a Dragon curled up in the corner office or playing dodge ball with the kids at recess (warn the Dragons to take it easy with the tail whips – they can sting).

So, put your best social paws forward. Have fun, play well with others, and remember: civility counts.
